On the subject of a "BP Boycott"

Yeah, yeah, yeah.."let's boycott BP!".."Don;t buy BP gas!".."Let's put BP outta business!"
The bandwagon has gotten pretty full..even Rosie O'Doughnuts..er, I mean O'Donnel-- jumped on when she brilliantly stated that "the government should seize BP's assets..make it an executive order and let Rush Limbaugh explode!" Thanks, Rosie. You're as smart as ever.

But lot's of well-meaning folks have called for a boycott of BP gas and BP products..despite the fact that BP/Amoco stations are independently owned, and a real boycott would hurt innocent victims. But they persist...thinking that buying gas from Exxon or Shell will somehow clean up the Gulf, faster, and save a lot of wildlife.

OK..let's assume they are correct. A boycott of BP will, indeed help the clean up. So let's do it. Let's all boycott BP gas stations and BP products...

Then that means we should also boycott all plastic products. Plastic is made from styrene, which is derived from crude oil. BP/Amoco is one of the largest producers of styrene, and styrene is in virtually every product we use on a daily basis:
* Cell phones
* Car parts/interiors/seats
* Shopping carts
* Clothing
* Food containers
* Building products
* The stethoscope you're doctor listens to your lungs with
* The toothbrush you used this morning
As well as--
* Shampoo bottles
* Combs/Brushes
* Chairs in the hair salon
* Blow dryers
* The plastic poncho you wear when you get a haircut
* Your credit card that you pay for your haircut with
* The credit card machine the salon owner uses to swipe your card
* The plastic coating on the scissors
* The drawer in the cash register
* The zippered bag the salon owner puts the day's receipts into
* The BIc lighter that lights your smokes
* The keyboard you use to type Facebook comments
* The window envelope that your paycheck comes in
* Your bath mat..shower curtain...toilet seat...window shades..roof shingles...carpeting..

Just about everything we have that makes our lives "a little easier" is made from crude oil. Since BP is the 3rd largest oil producer on the planet..it follows that a very large percentage of the products which you use, day in and day out, are probably--- BP products.

So...if you're gonna have a boycott..go for it. Just make sure you don't leave anything out.
