Why I'm voting "Democrat" This Year
OK...I've changed my mind. Up until last night..just after the "Barack-umentary" which opened my eyes (finally)..I was a strong McCain-Palin supporter. But now...I'm voting "Democrat"--right down the line. Here's why:
The US Economy...
1. Democrats will raise taxes on all of those greedy, evil rich people..you know..the ones who own businesses, then hire people like us to work in those businesses. Business owners who make 250k or more will pay a higher rate than the rest of us..all in the interest of Growing the Economy.."from the bottom up"
(even though there has NEVER been an instance of "bottom up" growth in the entire history of the world! If there were..Mexico would be one of the largest economies on the planet..the nations of the EU would be soaring, economically, instead of languishing in growth rates of 1 to 2%..and China would never have transitioned to a market-based economy starting in the 80s)
McCain: he won't raise ANY taxes. Ha! John McCain sure doesn't know that you have to RAISE taxes during a recession to grow the economy..right?
2. President Obama, Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reed ("The Gang of Three") will raise the corporate tax rate above the current rate (~35%..second highest in the industrialized world). This will certainly encourage businesses in the US to expand operations..hire more workers..and open more facilities here..instead of overseas or in Mexico (won't it?)
McCain: he would reduce the corporate tax to spur investment and hiring. Right! Like that EVER works!! (I think)
3. The Gang of Three will raise the Capital Gains Tax. As part of Obama's "Tax Fairness for the Middle Class" plan..he'll nearly double this tax from the current 15%..to 28%. This bold initiative--on behalf of all hardworking Americans--will dramatically increase investment in stocks, bonds and real estate, because NOW...everyone will have a reason to dump their cash into a mutual fund...earn $1,000 in capital gains..and then pay the IRS $280..instead of $150. That's Tax Fairness...right? Oh...but Obama's plan will only increase the tax on people who earn $250,000. OK...so those investors will likely pull their money out of the mutual funds..reducing the overall performance of the mutual funds..thereby reducing OUR return. OK..THAT sounds like a good plan (Tax those greedy rich people..more for us..less for them..right?)
McCain: He's not interested in raising the CapGains tax..says it would be "devastating to the US economy" (what a chump!)
3. The Democrats will provide Universal Health Care for everyone..although President-to-be Obama has said: "If you have health care now..you can keep it".
Yet...the State of Hawaii instituted a health care plan (single payer) for all Hawaiians who needed health insurance. Then...hundreds of employers throughout the Aloha State CANCELLED their group plans..and their employees opted into the State Plan. The result? Hawaii is spending hundreds of millions more than they originally planned on..the plan may go bankrupt. BUT...that couldn't happen if the Federal Government is running the plan, right? I mean, The Feds run EVERYTHING with efficiency..don't they? They've done bang-up job with Social Security...and Fannie Mae...and Freddie Mac..right?
McCain: He'll provide a $5000 tax credit for people to purchase their own Medical Insurance. Right! And leave the government OUT of it! John doesn't get it--the Federal Government HAS to intrude on EVERY aspect of our lives..or, we're not happy.
4 President-To-Be Obama..and his extremely intelligent and word-wise running mate, Joe Biden..have repeated (incessantly).."95% of folks won't see a tax increase."...But...it's documented by the IRS that as much as 45% of workers in the US don't pay ANY income taxes..so (quick calculation) that really means that about 1/2 of ALL workers WILL have a tax increase. AND...the Non-Tax Paying Tax Payers will get a "Refund"..out of MY increased taxes. That's OK..I'm sure that I'm not in that group...are You?
The Senator stated recently: "If I am sitting pretty and you've got a waitress who is making minimum wage plus tips, and I can afford it and she can't, what's the big deal for me to say, I'm going to pay a little bit more? That's neighborliness." Wow....he makes it sound so...well..obligatory. I mean it IS our responsibility to use our hard-earned money to "raise-up" another worker who makes less than us, right? Or, someone who won't work? As the man said.."When you spread the wealth around...etc etc.."
McCain: He had the audacity to call Sen. Obama a "socialist"..why? because Obama wants to increase federal spending by almost $1 trillion in order to build the world's largest "Nanny State"? ..even if it means bankrupting the nation in the process? I don't see the problem...
National Security
1. Barney Frank, (D) Congressman of Massachusetts' 4Th District wants to cut our military budget by 25%. That makes sense to me...we're fighting a war on (at least) 5 fronts...starting to gain a foothold in Iraq..struggling in Afghanistan...battling Al-Queda in The Philippines and in Africa..and Syria. Let's reduce our capabilities by 1/4. Tell our fighting men and women to "make due" with what they have..we'll put the money into domestic programs. Now..if we lose this war...and/or suffer more attacks...BUT...we provide free school lunches...and federally-funded abortions...and tax refunds to people who DON'T even pay taxes..that's better. Right?
McCain: the first thing he'd do is order a complete audit of all federal departments to eliminate waste and reduce spending. McCain would also apply the same strategy in Afghanistan which has worked in Iraq ("The Surge")...Oh sure..just because McCain got it right..and supported our military..and the surge..and just because he has military experience..that doesn't qualify him to RUN the military..does it? I mean..McCain isn't even a lawyer..nor has he ever organized any communities...
2. President-To-Be Obama will "slow the development" of new defense systems, "eliminate un-proven missile defense systems" and "not weaponize space". Whew! I'm sure glad that our next President doesn't consider our National Defense a priority (although, I THINK the Constitution gives him/her the specific duty of defending of our nation..above all other "priorities") But...that doesn't matter..what matters is that Pres. Obama will meet (unconditionally) with Hugo Chavez, ______ Castro, and Mahmoud Ahmadinejad..to "restore our image around the world."...and...bring ALL of the US troops home from Iraq..regardless of the situation on the ground.
(While all this is going on...remember that The Gang of Three have stated that they want to disarm all of US citizens "removing the threat of guns from our streets..etc etc..")

All of my favorite movie stars just LOVE Obama/Pelosi/Corzine/Lautenberg/Choi, etc
Bill O'Reilly seems to like Obama (positioning for post-election.."access"..?)
Chris Matthews gets a "tingly feeling runnin' up (his) leg" when Obama speaks
Stuart Smalley is running for the Senate
Democrats will pass the "Employee Free Choice Act"..which will eliminate the secret ballot in union elections
Democrats have no regard for unborn children..but they DO strongly support abortion mills like Planned Parenthood (ironically..a 'Big Business" they DO like) Who would support all of those unwanted kids anyway?
Democrats will never, ever allow anyone to drill for oil..even if it means gasoline prices of $15.00/gallon
Democrats have viciously attacked VP Candidate Sarah Palin..focusing recently on her clothes and make up (Hillary has custom pant suits made for $6000.00)
Good for her! The nerve of this "Governor"..just because she's been responsible for the administration of our largest State..and the top energy-producing State..and she's developed multi-billion dollar budgets...and has a long list of accomplishments..(unlike Barack Obama) and is, actually everything the "feminist" movement has promoted for nearly 40 years...I guess she's just not what we want..she's not a long-winded lawyer/senator...she doesn't have a single friend who can be called a terrorist, or revolutionary, or an anti-Semitic preacher..or a crazed left-wing priest...or a Palestinian terrorist ...she's not..a liberal Democrat. Who needs her?
Obama has been endorsed by the government of Iran..and the Palestinian Authority...and Castro...and most of the newspapers in the world. Wow! I really do rely on all of those learned sources to help me decide who should hold the most powerful position in the world. I mean..ALL of them certainly have the highest regard for us..and our well-being.
Here in NJ..we've elected Jon Corzine governor. When Corzine ran, he touted his "years of Wall Street experience" as a reason to vote for him. Well..Jon has been an absolute_____ (ryhmes with Pluck Up)..the NJ economy is a disaster..he's raised taxes..AND increased the budget deficit. BUT..he did approve spending tax dollars for Stem cell research... and he wants the State to buy out the mortgages of "1,000 homeowners"...which 1,000?
That's why I'm voting Democrat.
